The first week with a new hair system is mostly about getting used to a new routine. None of it is difficult, but a few basics done right at the start will make the system look better and last longer.
What to expect
For the first day or two, you will be aware of it: a new sensation on your scalp and a fuller reflection than you are used to. That is normal, and it fades quickly. Your system arrives in plain, unmarked packaging with a neutral sender name, so the discreet part starts before you even open the box.
Attaching with tape
Start with clean, dry skin — oils are the enemy of a good bond. Wash the area, let it dry fully, and skip moisturizer before attaching. Apply tape to the base of the system first rather than to your skin, following the perimeter or the areas designed for tape. Then position the system, line up the hairline, and press down firmly and evenly. Try to avoid getting it wet, and hold off on heavy exercise for the first few hours so the bond can set.
Contours versus rolls
Tape comes in two formats. Contours are pre-cut, curved pieces shaped for common spots like the front hairline — quick, consistent, and easy to replace. Rolls are continuous strips you cut to length yourself: more flexible for custom placement, and often better value if you attach frequently. Many wearers keep both on hand — contours for the hairline, roll tape for the sides and back.
Removing and cleaning
When it is time to remove the system, go slowly. Lift an edge and ease it back gently rather than pulling straight up. Leftover adhesive on the base is normal: let it soften with a little warm water and a gentle, system-safe cleanser, then wipe residue away with a soft cloth. Wash the hair with a mild shampoo, rinse with lukewarm water (never hot), and let the system air-dry on a stand, away from direct heat. Never store it while it is still damp.
Care basics for week one and beyond
Brush gently from the ends upward, and keep heavy styling products to a minimum — buildup shortens the life of any hair system. A light conditioner on the lengths, kept off the base, helps keep the hair soft. How often you re-attach is personal: many people refresh their tape weekly, others go longer. Let comfort and bond strength, not a calendar, tell you when it is time.
